– Recently Dee was part of an activity to clean up waste in coastal areas and also the sea, carried out by the EcoNusa Foundation from Jakarta, with Ridho and Kaka Slank also with Mr. Magafira as one who is known to care about special waste Banda area. They join the community and organizations that exist in Banda Naira. The cleaning took for 4 days, on Rhun island, Ai island, Hatta island and Neira island.
“During beach cleaning we mostly found plastic waste and a lot more pempers (diapers). I did not find any kind of cloth or anything other than plastic.”

Several agencies were invited to assist in the exhibition activity in the form of fish processing. 8 types of fish were processed; tuna fish pizza, salted fish, fish dumplings, fish chips, fish nuggets, shredded fish, fish balls and fish pempek. Afterwards, the 19th anniversary of STP was celebrated with art performance night, a group meal and a documentary video screening about STP. Dee and Mr Farid sang a duet, Miss Vivi singing and dancing the ‘Dangdut’ song and the vocal group by PSM hatta Syahrir performed.

Muhammad and I had a very nice conversation. We spoke about his youth on Run Island and the great time he had; learning fishing and swimming and about the sword fishes in the sea and playing all around the island with his friends and discovering abandoned buildings from the VOC time.
He spoke about Perk Eldorado from his grandfather where still further nutmeg cultivation was carried out by his nephew.
There is also Perk Arcadia and a fort that is called Aurora. For me these names represent a wealthy era and are connected to the time of the Portuguese, Englishmen and Dutch fought each other for Run to possess. A history of conflicts, wealth, slaves, war, pain and a supposed beauty from out the perspective of the colonizers.
However, until now the residents feel proud and do not see themselves as victims but as winners.

The legends surrounding El Dorado changed over time, as it went from being a man, to a city, to a kingdom, and then finally to an empire.
Arcadia (Greek: Αρκαδία) refers to a vision of pastoralism and harmony with nature. The term is derived from the Greek province of the same name which dates to antiquity; the province’s mountainous topography and sparse population of pastoralists later caused the word Arcadia to develop into a poetic byword for an idyllic vision of unspoiled wilderness. Arcadia is a poetic shaped space associated with bountiful natural splendor and harmony.

– Today we had a great meeting in which we continued to develop the song about the female warrior(s). Soraya played the tifa for the first time while the other 4 singers performed the song. They have all done very well.
In a relatively short time (5 meetings via Zoom) we first made the lyrics and now with the melody and drumming we have great material to further develop the song and make the song more special and stronger. We are looking for a special original style that suits the 5 young women and which pays tribute to oral history.
Over the next few days we will spend exploring traditional Banda songs and styles. The 5 piece choir will try out how to transform this or implement it into the song that is there now.
Reza will edit the current song and discuss it with Juul and Susia. We can’t wait for the 26th, so curious about what’s to come.

Sangat menarik bahwa tanggal kemerdekaan Indonesia dari jajahan Belanda diperingati berbeda. Indonesia memperingati hari di mana mereka memproklamasikan kemerdekaan pada 17 Agustus, sedangkan Belanda memperingati kapitulasi Jepang di Indonesia dua hari sebelumnya, pada 15 Agustus.
Di Belanda, para korban perang itu dan pembebasan Jepang oleh Indo, Indonesia dan Maluku dan Belanda diperingati.
Belanda baru mengakui kemerdekaan Indonesia pada Desember 1949, setelah bertahun-tahun ‘tindakan polisi’

…….our fifth meeting, this time in the old former VOC building ‘Istana Mini’. This historic place also stimulates the imagination; how did the Bandanese women live here on Banda during the VOC period and the colonial occupation, and how powerful they were, they did not allow themselves to be deprived of their dignity.
The Moluccas were originally a Matriarchate. There are a number of villages that form an alliance called the Orsima(9) or Orlima(5). These alliances have existed since the early Middle Ages.
Each alliance has 9 or 5 Mama Limas. These women protect and pass on the Adat, they watch over the health, well-being and inclusiveness of the community, they heal the pain of colonization.

…….pertemuan kelima kami, kali ini di bekas gedung VOC lama ‘Istana Mini’. Tempat bersejarah ini juga merangsang imajinasi; bagaimana wanita Banda tinggal di Banda selama masa VOC dan pendudukan kolonial, dan betapa kuatnya mereka, mereka tidak membiarkan diri mereka dirampas martabatnya.
Maluku awalnya adalah Matriarkat. Ada sejumlah desa yang membentuk aliansi yang disebut Orsima(9) atau Orlima(5). Aliansi ini telah ada sejak awal Abad Pertengahan.
Setiap aliansi memiliki 9 atau 5 Mama Limas. Para wanita ini melindungi dan mewariskan Adat, mereka menjaga kesehatan, kesejahteraan dan inklusivitas masyarakat, mereka menyembuhkan rasa sakit penjajahan.

Munasri La Din carries a bundle of white cotton, in which all kinds of personal objects are packed that are connected with cultural heritage, being a woman on Banda and identity.
Location; Fort Belgica on Banda Neira; a place that remembers the close and indelible connection of the Dutch colonization with the personal lives of Banda’s people.
The Artwork – A bundle of white cotton – is part of the social sculpture ‘Archipelago’ and the art project UN CONDITIONAL by visual artist Juul Sadée from Maastricht. In the next issue of Marinjo (no. 5, October/November 2021) she will elaborate on both art projects.

“Nusa Ina”, ceramic sculpture with soundscape and light
-‘a drop of water from heaven falling to the earth‘ is a line from one of the many songs sung about Ceram.
Ceram is one of the largest islands of the Moluccan archipelago. The origin of the Moluccan people, the Alifures, lies on this island, called ‘Nusa Ina’ or ‘Mother Earth’, where they are formed from clay. “Nusa Ina” means “Earth Precious” in the Alifurian language. Only much later did ‘Nusa Ina’ come to mean ‘Island Mother’, or ‘Mother Island’.
Before the arrival of the Europeans in the 16th century, a matriarchal society existed on this archipelago. The mother figure still plays an important role in the Moluccan community. To this day, specially appointed women are protectors of the Adat. These ‘Mama Limas’ pass on the traditions, customs, codes of conduct and culture to the next generations.
Three aboveground and one underground river flow on ‘Nusa Ina’. Ghosts inhabit the mountains, rainforests and deep caves. The earth of this mother island contains clay.
Using only our hands as tools, we intuitively form an object from red clay that reflects the specialness of the mythical mother / mother earth. All kinds of thoughts flow through our heads in fragments, every now and then we close our eyes when we are sculpting. Respect for ancestors, protection of the earth, its raw materials and all living things, appreciation for each other’s culture, spiritual values and society above capitalism, exploitation and racism. The earth is alive, sounds and voices can be heard, light perforates its bottom.

‘Nusa Ina Nusa Ina manis lawang’ is a beautiful song about the ‘Mother Island’. Fragments of this song, spoken and sung, are mixed with sounds of the ‘living’ clay. The soundscape, the ceramic sculpture and the light mirror the mystery of Mother Earth.
The artwork is located in the cloister of the Onze Lieve Vrouwe Basilica in Maastricht, a very appropriate location. Mary, Star of the Sea, the Moluccan Archipelago, the Mother; they are ancient connecting themes.

‘setetes air dari surga jatuh ke bumi’, adalah salah satu dari sekian banyak lagu yang dinyanyikan tentang pulau Seram.
Seram adalah salah satu pulau terbesar di kepulauan Maluku. Asal usul orang Maluku, Alifura, terletak di pulau yang disebut ‘Nusa Ina’ atau ‘Ibu Pertiwi’, karena mereka terbentuk dari tanah liat. “Nusa Ina” berarti “Bumi Berharga” dalam bahasa Alifurian. Baru kemudian ‘Nusa Ina’ berarti ‘Pulau Ibu’, atau ‘Pulau Ibu’.
Sebelum kedatangan bangsa Eropa pada abad ke-16, masyarakat matriarkat berkembang di Nusantara ini. Sosok ibu masih memegang peranan penting dalam masyarakat Maluku. Sampai hari ini wanita yang ditunjuk secara khusus adalah pelindung Adat. ‘Mama Lima’ ini mewariskan tradisi, adat istiadat, kode etik dan budaya kepada generasi berikutny.
Tiga aliran sungai di atas tanah dan satu sungai bawah tanah di ‘Nusa Ina’. Hantu menghuni pegunungan, hutan hujan, dan gua yang dalam. Bumi pulau induk ini mengandung tanah liat.
Hanya menggunakan tangan kita sebagai alat, kita secara intuitif membentuk sebuah objek dari tanah liat merah yang mencerminkan kekhasan ibu pertiwi / ibu pertiwi. Segala macam pikiran mengalir di kepala kita dalam potongan-potongan, kadang-kadang kita menutup mata ketika kita memahat. Penghormatan terhadap leluhur, perlindungan bumi, bahan mentahnya dan semua makhluk hidup, saling menghargai budaya, nilai-nilai spiritual dan masyarakat di atas kapitalisme, eksploitasi dan rasisme. Bumi hidup, suara dan suara dapat didengar, cahaya melubangi dasarnya.

Host Mirwan Andan leads the conversation about Lady admiral, our art project about Bhoy Kherang and her army of mothers. A multi media installation with a beautiful song composed together with Dianty, Soraya, Ade Tasya, Hanatia and Megawati. What a great moment to bring this to the attention of a large international audience.
The multimedia installation will be on display at Riwanua from February 27 to March 6, 2022.

– With a scholarship offer from the Luminocean Organization (Protecting the coastal and marine environment, as well as conserving biological diversity and mitigating the impact of ocean threats) Dee is conducting research at Pattimura University in Ambon city. Her research concerns species DNA identification. There has been found a new species in the Banda sea under the ships, on rocks and in corals. This small animal has many types and colors, and can be found in the Indonesian waters, but is new in the Banda sea. The research is focussing on genetics and the possibility that new genetics will arise, maybe due to natural factors, like climate change.
– Dengan tawaran beasiswa dari Luminocean Organization (Melindungi lingkungan pesisir dan laut, serta melestarikan keanekaragaman hayati dan mengurangi dampak ancaman laut) Dee sedang melakukan penelitian di Universitas Pattimura di kota Ambon. Penelitiannya menyangkut identifikasi DNA spesies. Telah ditemukan spesies baru di laut Banda di bawah kapal, di bebatuan dan di karang. Hewan kecil ini memiliki banyak jenis dan warna, dan dapat ditemukan di perairan Indonesia, namun tergolong baru di laut Banda. Penelitian ini berfokus pada genetika dan kemungkinan munculnya genetika baru, mungkin karena faktor alam, seperti perubahan iklim.

– Ade Tasya went on a picnic at Hatta island, together with her family. At these days she will be part in a theatre play about 1621, the massacre of Jan Pieterszoon Coen on Banda. Therefor she is at the campus, reading a book from the welknown Bandanese writer and Orang Kaya (important man) about the history of Banda Neira.
– Ade Tasya pergi piknik di pulau Hatta, bersama keluarganya. Pada hari-hari ini dia akan menjadi bagian dalam drama teater sekitar tahun 1621, pembantaian Jan Pieterszoon Coen di Banda. – Soraya recently graduated from STKIP Banda. She had time to spend a few days on a trip by boat to the eastern part of the Seram district. The trip took her to Bula where she took a walk.
